The City of Huber Heights, Ohio
| The City of Huber Heights, Ohio, located just minutes from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and in close proximity of the Dayton International Airport and the I-75/I-70 “Crossroads of America” interchange with a population of 43,439, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. The City of Huber Heights is a progressive Fire Division that is comprised of 61 career Firefighter/Paramedics running out of three stations serving the community utilizing state-of-art equipment and procedures. The City is conducting oral interviews to establish an eligibility list for hiring current openings for the position of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. Prior to appointment, the candidate must submit to an extensive background investigation, truth verification test, drug screen, physical ability test, physical and psychological examination. The approximate date for interviews will be the week beginning December 9, 2024, at Fire Division Headquarters, 7008 Brandt Pike. Individuals will be ranked based on their interview scores. Minimum Requirements: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age; High School Diploma or GED equivalent; possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License; must possess an Ohio Level II Firefighter and Paramedic certificates or possess either certificate and/or are currently enrolled in a training program to complete the Level II and/or Paramedic. Applicant must possess both Ohio Level II Firefighter and Paramedic certifications at time of appointment. The Division is also looking for candidates to fill full-time Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit positions through this process. Candidates who are Level II certified and currently enrolled in an Ohio Charter Paramedic Program may be considered for the newly created full-time Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit position. The recruit position is considered full-time working 24/48 schedule with 6 EDO’s for a 53-hour work week; vacation and sick leave accrual; personal leave and health insurance benefits. Annual 2025 FF/P Recruit Salary is $50,263 Firefighter/Paramedic Salary range (including 96-hour holiday pay bonus) at the end of the current collective bargaining agreement in 2025 will be $61,863.68 to $91,130.88. Starting salary step may be based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include, but not limited to, 10 EDO’s, 36 hours personal leave, sick leave accrual, vacation accrual (up to 15 days based on previous full-time Ohio public service credit), employer paid life insurance, and excellent health insurance benefits to include 100% employer paid medical insurance premium and generous contributions to HSA or HRA.
