The City of Fairborn, Ohio has a population of 34,977 and also covers Bath Township with a combined population of 41,514. Bordering the City of Fairborn is Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Fairborn is also the home of Wright-State University and the Ervin J. Nutter Center.
The Fairborn Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Firefighter/Paramedic. The department has four (4) fire stations and serves the community with over 50-line personnel who work a 24/48-hour schedule. In 2023, our total run volume was 7,179. In addition to offering both Fire and EMS services, the Fairborn Fire Department has specialized teams in technical rescue including rope, water, ice, and auto-extrication; as well as fire investigation, UAV (drone) operations, tactical paramedics, a quick response team, a Haz-Mat program, and more.
The City of Fairborn has multiple openings for the position of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. An eligibility list is currently being established. The hiring process consists of a background investigation, polygraphs (pre and post offer), Firefighter Mile / CPAT (or equivalent), psychological examination, and drug screen with physical. Applicants will be ranked following their interview.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess both a State of Ohio Paramedic and State of Ohio Firefighter Level II certification at the time of interview. Applicants must also possess and maintain a State of Ohio Driver’s License.
PAY AND BENEFITS: Effective January 1, 2025, the salary range (including holiday pay) is $73,279.05 to $93,787.68. Lateral Entries are encouraged to apply, and their pay will be based on years of experience. Benefits include 12 EDO’s, 24 hours of personal leave, Compensatory Time, 120-240 hours of annual Vacation accrual based on years of service, 14 hours of Sick Leave accrual per month, and a generous annual uniform allowance. Employer paid life insurance, and generous City contributions to HSA or HRA. Lateral applicants are allowed to bring up to 400 hours of previous department Sick Leave with them and may accrue Vacation at a higher rate.
