MARCS Update

Idle MARCS Radios to be Deactivated July 15, 2026

Idle MARCS radios to be deactivated July 15

The Multi-Agency Radio Communications System (MARCS) facilitates reliable communication among first responders, which is critical to protecting the health and safety of Ohioans during emergencies.

MARCS radios are critical components of the system and must be authenticated or link-layered as a safety and security measure to safeguard against unauthorized use and listening on the system, and against anyone attempting to disrupt it.

To further secure the MARCS radio system, any radio that has not been affiliated with the system for the previous three years and remains unauthenticated will be deactivated on July 15, 2026. MARCS customers with radios that have been inactive for the last three years must authenticate them by July 15 to continue using them.
