Contracted Interim Fire Chief (12-months) Miami Township (Greene County, Ohio) Job Title: Interim Fire Chief

Location: Miami Township, Ohio Job Type: Full-Time

Summary: Miami Township Fire Department is seeking an experienced individual to serve as the Department’s Interim Fire Chief. This temporary position offers an excellent opportunity to utilize experience and expertise in an organization that is experiencing significant cultural and operational changes.

Responsibilities: The Interim Fire Chief’s primary duty is to administrate and lead the Miami Township Fire Department and preparing existing officers for succession. The MTFD is staffed with career and part-time firefighter/EMTs on a 24/48 platoon schedule. The agency performs core fire suppression, rescue, and ALS emergency medical services. The department has limited fire prevention, fire inspections and public education programming. The Interim Fire Chief will manage organizational change, leadership development, policy updates, and implement appropriate organizational practices. The Interim Chief reports to the Board of Trustees and manages the budget, engages in community relations, and ensures the Department’s compliance with state, federal, and local requirements. The Interim Fire Chief is expected to respond to fires, emergency medical incidents and other major responses in support of operations.

Qualifications: The expected qualifications for candidates include: Previous experience and qualifications as an administrative-level chief fire officer; Valid Ohio driver's license; State of Ohio Firefighter II, EMT-B (Paramedic preferred); Fire executive training and leadership experiences is strongly preferred; Ability to pass physical fitness test, drug screen and background check; Strong communication and teamwork skills;

Working Hours: The Fire Chief is expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, mostly during normal business hours, as necessary to successfully manage the Department. Irregular hours, weekends or nights may be necessary.

Compensation: This position is a salaried-exempt position, with an expected salary of $7,000/month.
