The Hudson Fire Department is undergoing organizational restructuring and is currently hiring for regular part-time Firefighters. Under the direction of the Fire Chief or commanding officer, work involves specialized duty work in preparing for and responding to fire emergency calls and in providing general support within the Fire Department.
Duties and responsibilities include maintaining readiness for emergency call response; responding to fire and related emergency calls when dispatched and taking proper action; operating and maintaining all types of fire apparatus and equipment; participation in fire prevention activities and training.
This regular part-time position will be assigned to an on-station shift during daytime hours. Duties include: and industrial incidents. Performs firefighting activities including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps and related equipment, laying hose and performing fire combat, containment and extinguishment tasks. Assisting in fire suppression, rescue, entry, ventilation, and salvage. Assesses and quickly analyzes fires and other emergency situations, communicating findings to superiors as needed for further instruction. Operates radio and other communication equipment. Assisting in cleanup and overhaul after emergency calls. Cleans and maintains assigned equipment and station areas. Assisting in checking, testing, and maintaining apparatus and equipment. Responding to emergency calls which may involve various functions such as extrication, control of hazardous materials, etc. Wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Must complete annual Ohio Continuing Education (CE) requirements to maintain required certifications and any other department CE or training that is deemed mandatory by the Chief. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, colleagues, co-workers, residents, City officials and the general public. Must provide a high level of customer service by being courteous, responsive, respectful, professional and helpful in all interactions with staff, co-workers, superiors and the general public. May perform other related duties as assigned by the Fire Chief or Officer in Charge. Must have regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Must follow and comply with City and department rules and policies.
