Lieutenant Paramedic

The Northwestern Joint Fire District is looking to hire 2 full-time Firefighter / Paramedic / Lieutenants. We will be accepting both internal and external candidates. Per Rules and Regulations section 303.03(3) this is a concurrent posting.

Factors to be considered for these positions include but are not limited to, required training course(s), licensing or certification requirements, other minimum qualifications, annual performance evaluation ratings, and the employee's knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's essential functions.

The candidate must pass a drug screen and maintain a free lifestyle through employment.

The candidate must pass a physical allowing the candidate to remain an active member according to the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund Guidelines.

The candidate must complete a thorough background screening, including a reference check.

The candidate must meet all requirements for training and certification at the time of appointment.

The candidate shall maintain their Paramedic certification throughout their employment with the Northwestern Joint Fire District.

Once appointed, the candidate will serve a one (1) year probationary period.

The annual salary is 85,448.71 (2025 Pay Scale). Benefits include; Major Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Sick Leave, and Personal Time. PTO and Holiday pay

Certifications and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications:

Completion of secondary education (high school or GED), completion of firefighter and paramedic training, and must have at least four (4) years of experience as a firefighter. Associate's degree in a major related to Fire, EMS, or Public Administration Preferred. Demonstrates leadership behaviors that empower, equip, and organize an organizational unit to reflect the directives provided by the Fire Chief.



LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable under the district vehicle insurance policy; certified as an Ohio Firefighter II, Paramedic, HAZMAT Operations, Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II (within 18 months of appointment, and Fire Safety Inspector (within 18 months of appointment), Fire Officer 1 (within 18 months of appointment); maintain other certification (e.g., EPR, ACLS, etc.) as required.[END]
