Tiffin Fire and Rescue Division

Job Classification:
Firefighter - Tiffin Fire/Rescue Division is currently testing for Firefighter! All candidates must submit a department application, located within the National Testing Network (NTN) Candidate Portal, and take the FireTEAM test through NTN by June 14, 2019. The department requires the candidate PHQ. You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. The PHQ must be completed or you may not be considered further in the process. Although testing is available on an ongoing basis, candidates wishing to be considered for the first round of hiring must submit all requirements by June 14, 2019.

Salary Information:
Salary based upon negotiations with the International Association of Firefighters Local 322. Current collective bargaining agreement. Current CBA 2017-2019 Firefighter/EMT-B starting pay $40,544.25/ yr. pay increases to $50,448.87 upon completion of probationary period. Firefighter/ Paramedic starting pay $41,713.80/ yr. pay increases to $51,904.12 upon completion of probationary period.

Department Overview:
Since 1894, the Tiffin Fire Department has provided full-time protection to the City of Tiffin. In 1997, EMS was merged creating the Fire/Rescue Division. The men and women who comprise our department today are more than firefighters. The majority are paramedics and certified fire safety inspectors. 20 are trained to the level of Haz-Mat Technicians. Several have training in technical rescue. We provide our services based out of two fire stations. Station 1, located in the heart of downtown, houses two engines, a ladder truck, two ambulances, rescue boats, administrative offices, and support vehicles. Station 2, can be found in the north end of our city. It is located between two major industrial areas and houses an engine, aerial platform truck, and an ambulance. We utilize cross staffing to cover many of the incidents for which we are requested.

Academy Certification: Ohio FFII, EMT-B, Hazmat Operations
Necessary Certifications: Minimum State of Ohio Firefighter II, EMT-B, Hazmat Operations - Must be submitted with the application Additional Requirements: The candidate selected for hire must obtain a State of Ohio Hazard Recognition Officer and Paramedic certifications within 30 months of their start date in order to successfully complete their probationary period. All certifications must be maintained during employment.

Preference Points:
If requesting military or paramedic preference points on examination applicant must submit valid DD-214 and or State of Ohio paramedic certification card at the time of application. Must obtain a 70% on examination to receive bonus points. Maximum bonus of 20%.

General Information:
The City of Tiffin is seeking to establish an eligibility list for the position of full-time firefighter. A City of Tiffin Firefighter must be willing to work as part of a team and build professional relationships with staff, colleagues, co-workers, elected officials, community leaders, and citizens. This position requires a physically fit professional who has a passion to provide efficient professional Fire/EMS services with outstanding communication and leadership skills. The Firefighter/Paramedic works a 24/48 schedule as subject to the current union contract. The testing period is continuous. However, to be considered on this eligibility list, testing and the City of Tiffin Applicant Packet must be completed and submitted by June 14th, 2019. The City of Tiffin does not require a PAT (Physical Abilities Test) through NTN. PAT testing will be conducted by the City of Tiffin after the completion of the examination through the NTN. Candidates must meet department standards for physical fitness, strength, flexibility, and endurance.
